Our Roots, Our Rise
We have grown from grassroots beginnings into a powerful local voice for progress.
In late 2004, after a disappointing Presidential election loss, a small group of women in Clifton came together to form a Democratic women’s group. Their efforts quickly gained momentum, leading to a February 2005 kickoff event where more than 100 women gathered to hear from local leaders and shape the organization’s purpose. From these beginnings, the Democratic Women of Clifton (later known as the Democratic Women of Clifton and Northern Virginia) launched a series of initiatives, including forums, educational meetings, newsletters, and community activities, which continue to this day. What started as a vision to connect and empower local Democratic women has grown into a vibrant, influential organization that champions Democratic candidates, engages members on key issues, and fosters lasting friendships across Northern Virginia.
